Montreal Indie Math Rockers Gulfer Share New Double-Single “Greetings / Barely”
Montreal indie emo-rock act Gulfer have shared their new double-single “Greetings / Barely”. Featuring a retro video game visual on the front half, with a minimalist studio performance for the latter, the group keep their DIY spirit alive.
Featuring intricate guitar riffs and melancholic vocals on “Greetings”, the band pick things up for a more midwestern emo rock performance on “Barely”. Both deep with introspective lyricism – “Greetings” about the troublesome days of youth, and “Barely” about the transactional reciprocity of kindness – their slacker emo style leaves room for thought while their instrumentals add a layer of melodic intensity.
Check out the double clip below, and catch the band on tour with Pinegrove (dates just past).
