Moses Boyd Shares ‘Surreal’ Music Video for Neo-Jazz Track “Stranger Than Fiction”
South London artist Moses Boyd released his latest album Dark Matter back in February, releasing his attention-grabbing, genre-melting sound into the world.
From the collection, Boyd has debuted his new music video for opening track “Stranger Than Fiction”. Using a negative filter, the visual accompaniment amplifies the song’s surreal motif. Boyd explains:
“Stranger Than Fiction was created to highlight how the world we’re living in can appear so surreal and make you question what is real. As we are seeing with current affairs, I feel it’s a question we all need to constantly fight for and contend with – because sometimes the Truth is Stranger than fiction.”
Seamlessly blending together jazz, UK garage, afrobeats, and hip-hop, “Stranger Than Fiction” posses a powerful, young swagger that is highlighted by Boyd’s percussive talents. Glitchy snare beats flicker over top dense bass drums as a saxophone and trumpet battle for attention, eventually melting together into a layered musical experience.
