Tim Baker Supports A Friend With New Single “Sylvan Valley”
Toronto-based singer-songwriter Tim Baker is releasing his upcoming Survivors EP on July 10th, and after sharing the lead single and title track earlier this year, he has followed up with an equally captivating song, this time with deeply personal ties.
Known for his poignant lyrics and emotive songwriting, Baker wrote “Sylvan Valley” for a close friend whose son was dealing with a difficult and deadly illness:
“When I would talk with my friend, I could feel such a crush of stress and resentment and helplessness on him. I can’t imagine how hard it must be to watch your child suffer and struggle like he did. I guess I tried to imagine it when I wrote this song. Thankfully, his son is healthy and free of all that now. So, the song feels lighter than it did when I wrote it.”
Swelling string arrangements add to the song’s power and emotion, as Baker provides support from behind the piano, singing “If I take care of you, that will take care of me” with his signature, rustic voice.
You can pre-order Survivors EP here, and purchase the “Artist Survival Kit” before July 10th to be entered into a draw to win a live, private concert from Tim Baker either virtually or in person.
