Electronic Producer Frank Lee Shares New Single “Shortcut” From Upcoming EP ‘Taken’
After settling in Berlin back in 2016 following a professional tour as a jazz trombonist, Frank Lee began exploring music production and the possibilities with groove. Inspired by the likes of Theo Parrish, Madlib, and Dilla, Lee now creates raw, expressive music mixing contemporary styles with soulful house beats. From his upcoming EP Taken, the Australian-born producer has shared his new single “Shortcut”, featuring Tel Aviv/Berlin-based artist J. Lamotta.
“This song’s been a long time in the making”, Frank shares. “I spent a while getting the drums to hit so that they complement the mood and vibe of J.Lamotta’s vocals. The song is structured as a dialogue between the vocals and the synthesizers. They each get a turn taking a verse before finishing the song together 🙂 Hope you feel the track“.
A steady, ethereal synthesizer pulsates as trance-like percussion eases through the course of the track, flourished by Lamotta’s warm and inviting vocals. There is a sense of peace and freedom within Lee’s recording and it quickly hypnotizes the listener with a blanket of serenity.
