Danish Indie Pop Artist Mina Okabe Releases Debut Album; Shares Latest Single “Miss Those Days”
From her bedroom in Copenhagen, 21-year-old Mina Okabe shares her debut album Better Days, a collection of warm, positive melodies that explore friendship, youth, and romance through blissful, dreamy indie pop. As a young citizen of the world, Okabe was born and raised in London by her Japanese mother and Danish father, before travelling and living in big cities such as New York and Manila. The maturity and depth of her experience come through on her music, putting her well above her years and combining an array of influences.
With her album out into the world, Okabe has shared her final single “Miss Those Days”. Despite the positive vibe in her melodies, there’s always a certain longing and something bittersweet in Mina’s voice and words, written about someone close to Mina.
“It’s about friendship – about a close friend of mine. We used to be together all the time but one day she had to move far away and even though we promised to stay in touch everything we had just faded out and disappeared. ‘Miss Those Days’ is about everything you take for granted and the wonder of sudden change,” Mina Okabe says.
Dreamy ’90s guitar-pop, dripping with nostalgia come alive courtesy of Mina’s voice and lyrics, providing a sense of comfort during a melancholic, introspective moment. Listen below:
