San Diego Indie Singer-Songwriter Scoobert Doobert Drops The Hard Truth In New Single “I’m An Idiot”
Indie bedroom pop artist Scoobert Doobert has released a wide variety of music over the last few years, spanning from indie pop to “hip-hopera”. On his upcoming fifth record Big Hug, he continues his style of groovy, lo-fi pop as he delves into the topic of returning to the world following lockdown. From the release is his new single “I’m An Idiot”, an honest and tongue-in-cheek self-love track about the truth of the world.
About the single, he explains: “I’m an idiot is a reflection of self-doubt turned into self-love. A negative affirmation becoming a statement of freedom. It’s a song lamenting and celebrating the fact that everyone on this planet is an idiot, each in their own special way. To me, the people who don’t view themselves as fools, are the biggest idiots of all. But that’s a pretty stupid statement.”
With his laidback, groovy style, the cold, hard truth of inherent stupidity comes out as a light-hearted effort, making for something both a fun and sun-filled.
