Indie Newcomer Slowe Finds A Balance On Bedroom R&B Single “Superego”

Sophie Hawes, the mind behind Bristol-based project Slowe, has shared her new single “Superego”. Showcasing her wealth of talent, the multi-instrumentalist/producer/songwriter finds a sweet spot between R&B and bedroom-soul pop on her latest release. Inspired by the concept of the superego and its relation to one’s behaviour, “Superego” is a dreamy and reflective tune, lead by Hawes’ velvety vocals and relatable lyricism. Slowe explains, “a quote I found said ‘superego is the part of a person’s mind or personality, that tells them how to behave based on learned morals and values’”.

Crisp percussion, slick piano and guitar lines, and Hawes’ voice are an ideal match, giving the smooth bedroom track an effortless glow.
