Toronto Indie Trio shy kids Share “family name” From Newly Released EP ‘fresh off a feeling’
Toronto audio-visual indie rock trio shy kids have shared their new EP fresh off a feeling, and its new focus track “family name”. Known for stepping outside the box and bringing forth more eccentric art-rock driven styles into their music and visuals, the latest release is no exception, as their dreamy new track is given an AI-adjacent music video.
Using the same technological approach as the video for previous single, “fresh off a feeling” shy kids take their own personal archival family videos and reconfigure them to explore the family dynamics theme of the song through a painting-like and radiant frame. “Family politics—it’s not always easy getting along with your family,” says guitarist Matthew Hornick. “Even though you love them, our relationships with family need care, attention, and understanding in order to stay healthy. ‘It’s time to stop keeping score, ’cause we’re a team’. It’s about forgiveness, not holding grudges, and learning to navigate relating to family members into adulthood.”
With the new EP out into the world, fans won’t have to wait long for their upcoming album house cats, out July 14th via Everything Forever.
