Toronto Singer-Songwriter Alexander Saint Fights His Inner Demons On New Single “Bad Friends”
Toronto-based singer-songwriter Alexander Saint wrote his new single “Bad Friends” back in 2019, during a period of where he found himself dealing with bouts of depression and self-doubt. Four years later and the song still finds a relatable energy, as Saint hopes to pass on the sense of hope and growth that he found through his music.
“Bad Friends is a song with duality”, says Saint about his latest single. “It talks about my own struggles with inner demons always trying to convince me I’m never good enough and escaping them through alcohol. It can also be taken literally, navigating relationships with people in life you thought had your best interests in mind, but never show up when you need them. It really gave me a true appreciation of the good people I have, compared to the ones who will kick me when I’m down.”
Saint’s raw and tender vocals dance overtop a finger-picking guitar progression, as he lets his vulnerable lyricism lead the way.
