Dagny Dances The Heartache Away In Choreographed Video For “It’s Only A Heartbreak”
After stealing our hearts in a recent “From the Inbox” segment, Norwegian indie pop artist Dagny has shared her fun-loving and choreographed music video for her new hit single “It’s Only A Heartbreak”, from her upcoming album Strangers / Lovers out October 2nd.
After finding the motivation to move on from a past relationship, the emerging artist wrote “It’s Only A Heartbreak” in spirit with the the famous line “Here’s looking at you, kid” from the 1942 film Casablanca. “Like the movie, the song is about knowing that you will never get someone back, but you can secretly still look at, and admire, that certain someone. The song carries a nonchalant expression, but the undertone makes it pretty obvious that you’re not over that person yet“, she explains.
Getting over someone is always easier said than done, but in the new music video, Dagny enlists the help of two friends to dance the pain away in the bright and free-spirited dance video. The song’s upbeat energy and inspiring positivity is colourful contrasted with the tug-of-war lyrics about being good one day and in the dumps the next. Bouncing synthesizers, handclaps, and electro-pop dancability gives “It’s Only A Heartbreak” its addictive personality.
