Leah Kate Makes A Move On Groovy New Single “Fuck Up the Friendship”
Leah Kate flew onto the scene with her 2019 EP Impulse. The Los Angeles native continues to build a fanbase around her dance-worthy pop stylings and candid perspective on life. Her new single “Fuck Up The Friendship” follows suit, capturing both her viability as a pop star and her engaging musicality.
As per the title, the song explores Kate’s inhibitions as she falls for an unexpected romance:
‘fuck up the friendship’ was inspired by my experience falling for a friend who I never thought I would fall for. I really valued our friendship, but the feelings were just too strong to ignore. And yet again, I created another home made video during quarantine. It’s supposed to take you through the mental state of falling for someone – I used abstract objects that are representative of love and friendship while also providing a nostalgic, vintage vibe. At the end of the day, I wanted to bring good, fun vibes to people during this time. Music unites people and I hope someone can get a good dance out of it
With similarities to pop icons Dua Lipa and Selena Gomez, her confidence and prowess on the single is intoxicating, while the song’s disco foundation makes room for modern pop elements and production to take the lead, and allowing Kate to shine with her personality and candidness at the helm.
